At Bradlow's limit, the moduli space of Bogomol'nyi vortices on a compact Riemann surface of genus gg is determined. The K\"{a}hler form, and the volume of the moduli space is then computed. These results are compared with the corresponding results previously obtained for a general vortex moduli space.Comment: LaTex file, 6 page

    Volume of Vortex Moduli Spaces

A gas of NN Bogomol'nyi vortices in the Abelian Higgs model is studied on a compact Riemann surface of genus gg and area AA. The volume of the moduli space is computed and found to depend on N,gN, g and AA, but not on other details of the shape of the surface. The volume is then used to find the thermodynamic partition function and it is shown that the thermodynamical properties of such a gas do not depend on the genus of the Riemann surface.Comment: LaTex file, 17 pages. Stack-run adaptive wavelet image compression

    Get PDF
We report on the development of an adaptive wavelet image coder based on stack-run representation of the quantized coefficients. The coder works by selecting an optimal wavelet packet basis for the given image and encoding the quantization indices for significant coefficients and zero runs between coefficients using a 4-ary arithmetic coder. Due to the fact that our coder exploits the redundancies present within individual subbands, its addressing complexity is much lower than that of the wavelet zerotree coding algorithms. Experimental results show coding gains of up to 1:4dB over the benchmark wavelet coding algorithm

The Relevant Operators for the Hubbard Hamiltonian with a magnetic field term

The Hubbard Hamiltonian and its variants/generalizations continue to dominate the theoretical modelling of important problems such as high temperature superconductivity. In this note we identify the set of relevant operators for the Hubbard Hamiltonian with a magnetic field term.Comment: 19 pages, RevTe

Gamma Radiolytic Degradation of 4-Chlorophenol Determination of Degraded Products with HPLC and GC-MS

Contamination by chlorophenols of surface water and groundwater is an emerging issue in environmental science and engineering. After their usage as pesticide, herbicide and disinfectant, these organic compounds subsequently enter the aquatic environment through a number of routes. Some of the chlorophenols are slightly biodegradable, while others are more persistent and mobile in the aquatic environment especially chlorophenols. Gamma radiolytic degradation is one of advance oxidation process that has been thought to be one of the promising treatments to deal with this problem. This radiolytic study was carried out in methanolic 4-CP (4-chlorophenol) samples. Among several factors effecting radiolytic degradation of 4-CP, dose and concentration are important that were evaluated under atmospheric conditions. A degradation yield (G –value) for 4-CP of 0.38 and 1.35 was achieved in 20 and 100mg/dm3 solution. It was observed that degradation yield decreases with increasing 4-CP concentration. Gamma radiolysis produce free radicals in solvent which further react with 4-CP molecules to generate different products. The identification of degradation products was proposed using HPLC and GC-MS

The purpose of this study to determine the suitability of the application ofaccounting murabaha financing at Bank Syariah Mandiri Branch Luwuk to Statementof Financial Accounting Standards No. 102, Accounting for Murabahah. This researchincludes applied research. Data collection technique used is the technique ofdocumentation and literature. The data used are primary data and secondary data aswell as data analysis method used is descriptive qualitative method. Results of theanalysis showed that the financing of Housing Loan (KPR) on Bank Syariah MandiriBranch Luwuk accordance with Statement of Financial Accounting Standards No. 102,Accounting for Murabahah. In the implementation of murabaha financing, BankSyariah Mandiri Branch Luwuk act as a seller and the customer as a buyer. In addition, there is a difference between the interest of conventional banks and Islamic banks, namely conventional banks determine interest in a contract made with the assumptionmust sealu profit, while the determination of the ratio of Islamic banks / for the resultsmade a contract based on the likelihood of profit and loss

Environmental pollution: a case study of waste water parameters from Ibrahim Adamu Lake, Jigawa, Nigeria

    Get PDF
The effects of environmental pollution in relation to waste water parameters from Ibrahim Adamu Lake were examined for a period of 12 Months from October, 2003 - September, 2004. The physico-chemical parameters of pH, Temperature, Dissolved oxygen, Alkalinity, Nitrate, and Phosphate were examined using standard methods (APHA, 1992). It was found that all the evaluated parameters were below the Federal Environmental Planning and Protection Agency (FEPA, 1990) and World Health Organization (WHO,1999) standards

A discrete-time mathematical model for the control of weeds population density towards improving crop yields

    Get PDF
In this paper, a mathematical model for the control of single weed species population density is proposed. The model’s steady-state solutions were obtained and analysed for local and global stabilities. The analysis reveals that the model is locally asymptotically stable and as well globally stable. Graphical simulations were carried out to support the analytic analysis of the model for the global stability and concludes that, weed proliferation may be controlled if the control strategy is target at the recruitment factors. Base on this finding, it is recommended that for effective control, weeds management tactics should be targeted at the recruitment stage rather than the usual practice of controlling mature weed through the application of herbicides. Hence, application of the results of this work may reduce or eradicate the weeds density and improve crop yield at its optimum capacity for sustainable food production
